Angel On Call Dog Rescue
Is It Vomiting or Is It Regurgitation?

Dr. Kay discusses symptoms and the resolution to a problem with a dog.

We need to be aware that some will consume anything and every thing if given a chance and a trip to the vet is the first priority.

This article, and this is not about the rescue involved, illustrates why we do not have on site adoption events and why we chose to have all of ours as in-home adoptions.

On site events can be noisy, anxious, excited times, for humans and pets and many, both, don’t listen, when instructed.

it is unfortunate the bite or nip, but dogs are not humans and they don’t like to be hugged, or picked up by people that they have not been introduced too.

Dogs can speak to us and say stop that, the handlers and fosters can read the body language and understand it, if the human will listen.

Humans are responsible for the actions of their pets

The bottom line is a child is dead, a fact that the dog activists tend to minimize, Lynn said. “You’re not dealing with people who are level-headed at all. They are way across the line.”

There is no greater loss than that, of a child.

The dog probably reacted to the cry or whimper of the child.

As dog advocates, we advocate, not leaving your child unattended with a dog and we also restrict pets to homes with kids, based on the actions of the dog, to protect the child.

Call us radicals, but we want the child to be safe.

The politics of dog rescue

There just comes a time, when something needs to be written.

We all love pets, of all types, who doesn’t.

We, the humans, that is, have to make decisions in life, more so, now for some.

What with job loss, home loss, etc.

Making a decision to surrender a pet is never easy. Generally, there are sleepless nights, worry and thoughts of all manners of things about the pets.

A person makes a choice to do what is proper for the pet.

In turn, we should be thankful and recognize the challenges and accept the choice the person has made.

Then, sometimes, we are faced with the politics of rescues and shelters.

Some are labeled, flippers. Some are labeled scams. Some are labeled, as not legit and on and on and on, the names can go.

Two recent owner surrenders, the humans, have faced comments from people, that what they are doing, surrendering or giving up a pet, is wrong, for a whole host of reasons.

And then come the baseless allegations that rescues are not legit.

The problem is, what is a legit rescue?

501c3? That is the charitible designation from the IRS, does that make a rescue legit? When donations could be spent on non animal related charges?

There are private rescues that are not charities and none the less, rescue and re-home pets.

Recent events, related to this rescue, Angel On Call Dog Rescue, Inc.,  a state of Ohio registered non-profit corp, have brought this blog post up.

If there are those that are concerned about AOC, drop us a line, we are only too happy to discuss anything.

We are two people, doing what we can to rescue, rehab and re-home, dogs and puppies in kill shelters and from owner surrenders.

A little education can go a long way, but, first we need to stop and think and listen and then learn.

Drop us a line, email or phone, it is on our website.

Heck, maybe even offer to foster and help the pets that all so need the help and leave the politics and sniping on the curb.

In home adoption versus other process

Mya, our current foster pup, she is eight months old, had a meet and greet recently.

As is our process, we brought her to the adoptive family, whom had an existing dog.

We ensure that the dogs are introduced properly and the match is good.

What we learned is that, our technique, works.

There was no match.

The couple after seeing Mya and the existing dog together that a second, high energy, dog was not a good choice, at this time.

What we accomplished, was, one less possibly returned pet to a shelter to a rescue or worse.
